Schofield & Sims Get Set Early Years is a comprehensive and engaging early years scheme that aims to bridge the gap between play and formal learning, helping all children to become school-ready by the end of Reception. Comprising twelve activity books and three accompanying teacher’s guides, Get Set Early Years covers all the Early Learning Goals (ELGs) for Literacy, Mathematics and Understanding the world. Carefully designed to appeal to young children, each activity book page contains two stimulating activities for children to complete, such as matching, complete the picture, connect the dots, mazes, picture sequencing, colour by sound and odd one out. Additional features include a `Teaching Tip’, `Notes for parents and carers’ and `Key Vocabulary’ and `Extension activity’ sections to reinforce classroom learning. Get Set: Writing Words develops children’s ability to write simple whole words, beginning with single CVC spellings before moving on to words featuring digraphs and trigraphs, high-frequency and tricky words, and finally to captions and sentences.
